Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, 1926 to 2022

It was with much sadness that we received the news that Her Majesty The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral during the afternoon of Thursday 8 September 2022. May she rest in peace and rise in glory and may the King and all the Royal Family cast all their cares on the Father of all mercies and Giver of all comfort.

Our beloved Queen will be remembered for her devotion to her peoples, to this nation and to the Commonwealth of Nations and there will be opportunities in the coming days and weeks for us all to express our heartfelt thanks for her life and example. Her Christian faith and witness has been an inspiration to us all.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."    Matthew 25:23

Bishop Christopher released a video statement upon hearing the news and the Church of England have written a prayer giving thanks for the life of The Queen.

Prayers will be said to give thanks for the life of the Queen at all our services on Sunday 11 September.

There will be books of condolence in all three churches and there are online versions that can be signed on both the Royal Family and Church of England websites.

We pray for His Majesty The King on his accession to the throne. Thanks be to God. God save the King.

A prayer on the death of Her Majesty The Queen

Gracious God, we give thanks
for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
for her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
